Born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, West Africa, Stofresh also known as ‘Isatta Magona” moved to the United States of America at the age of 15. Her rich fusion of Afrobeat, hip-hop, and dance music overlaid with effortlessly rich and enchanting vocals against a background of sinewy percussive rhythms is emerging as a new force in African music in the United States. Her debut single “Bless Me” was officially released on April 27th 2014.
Stofresh started her career in music and public performance at the age of 4. Her formative years were highly successful as she was marked out for her musical talent in the local school and church choirs, playacting, and for performances on local TV in The Gambia. Her mentors encouraged her natural talent to blossom while actively encouraging her to boldly experiment with new forms and rhythms.
Her first performances was a collection of crowd-pleasing favorites that have a particular resonance for her as it marked her development of a unique voice, style, and genre in the African music scene in the USA. She has since then performed at special occasions (weddings, graduations, and parties) and she continues to wow diverse audiences.
A consummate blogger on entertainment news, Stofresh holds an Associate degree in Public Relations, a BS in Business Management, and she is currently working on an MBA. She is currently using social media, including blogs and tweets, to showcase exciting, new, prospective, as well as established talents.
Always enthusiastic about giving back to her community, Stofresh is also active in a number of African not-for-profit organizations (such as Tegloma) that focus on community development, health, youth, and women’s empowerment. She currently lives in Phoenix, Arizona with her husband and two wonderful children
