Ali Kiba, however, vehemently protested the annunciation, saying he received more votes from the public than Wizkid did; and technically that meant he was the bonafide winner.
MTV Base East Africa actually admitted that Ali Kiba got more public votes than Wizkid.
Ali Kiba on Wednesday, November 9, took to social media to reveal that MTV EMA 2016 organisers have contacted his management and apologised for the mistake, saying the award will be delivered to Kiba soon.
Wizkid has since deleted all Instagram posts regarding the award that is given alongside that of Best Worldwide Act.
After Ali Kiba’s annunciation, his online troop spammed Wizkid’s social media pages to ridicule the Ojuelegba hit-maker for “taking home an award that wasn’t rightfully his.”
The derisive attack on the interwebs seemingly angered Wizkid who chimed in on Twitter to speak his mind.
He said: “Too many dumb people in the world. God help us.”
