Fight Through the Obstacles to Get to Where You Want to Be

On October 16th, 2020, we had the pleasure of having Manix Emmason as our special guest on the MyAreaVibe Spotlight Show. On the show, Manix Emmason shared his life story, and expressed how fighting every obstacle in his life has brought him to where he is today. Manix was born and raised in Congo. He spent about 12 years in Uganda, and then moved to America in 2014. He lived in Spokane, Washington, for several years before moving to New York in 2018 where he still currently lives, while working on building his music career.

One of his debut songs that the artist is very proud of is called “Refugee Life”. It narrates the conflict and war in home countries which forced thousands of people to flee and relocate in refugee camps. Unfortunately, the camps did not provide better living conditions for them and the struggles intensified. In “Refugee Life”, Manix Emmason sings about the struggles that refugees face on a daily basis, and he advocates for home countries to stop wars. In his music video, he took live footage from the refugee camp, so the viewers could see the harsh conditions.

Fast forward to today, the singer releases new music from America, but the music videos are created and recorded in Africa with the help of his connections. He learned from experience that recording and creating music in America includes additional expenses from companies charging by the hour. Because of this price structure, the project would constantly go over budget. In comparison, each project in  Africa has a set price. The only drawback that comes with producing in Africa is that there are frequent delays in receiving the final product. But once the product is delivered, it is truly a “work of art” said the artist . Despite all those obstacles, Manix Emmason stated that he plans to keep releasing new music. With his strong faith in God, he is confident to always have the energy to get up and spread the Word of God to others through his Gospel music. He can sing in 5 different languages which include French, Swahili, and Lingala. So if you would like to book him for a concert, he is ready to show up!
